Mike Flury - Bass

Mike Flury Mike started playing bass at the age of fourteen. Having already a strong background in music with piano, saxophone, and voice; Mike learned the instrument in a day's time. He started performing on bass at the age of fifteen shortly thereafter. In high school, Mike's greatest achievements on bass were performing in the Big 33 All-Star Band and receiving the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award.

Moving forward, Mike was accepted into Lebanon Valley College's music program. While in college, Mike performed with the college's orchestra, small jazz ensemble, and jazz band. Mike also performed with local bands such as Superphat, No-Refill, and Sceva. During his tenure with these bands, he has had the opportunity to open for such acts as The Almighty Senators, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Disturbed, Taproot, Chevelle, Underoath, and Local H. Upon graduating from Lebanon Valley College, Mike earned a BA in Music with Emphasis on String Bass and Electric Bass and a BM in Sound Recording & Technology.

Currently, Mike is working with three different projects. He currently plays electric and synth bass with the Red Velvet Girls (dance/top 40 covers), upright and electric bass for Rebecca Miller, and electric bass for Uncertainty Principle (miscellaneous genres).

Mike has been teaching bass for nine years currently in a seemingly unlimited list of genres and styles. Mike has experience in live performance, studio recording, musical theater, composition, and orchestra. He also welcomes students on upright bass as well as electric bass.
