Jean Larrivée founded Jean Larrivée Guitars Ltd. in 1967 in Toronto, Ontario. The company later moved to Victoria, British Columbia in 1977, and then to Vancouver in 1982, where the company remains today. Larrivée also opened a plant in California in September 2001.
Jean Larrivée apprenticed with Edgar Monch Sr., whom was a renowned Classical Guitar builder from Germany. Monch’s family had immigrated to Toronto in the ‘60’s, and Larrivée and Monch’s son were fellow students at the Toronto Classical Guitar Society.
Today, Larrivée guitar are some of the finest instrument available anywhere in the world. The Larrivée Guitar company’s approach to building guitars has always reflected a harmonious union of old-world craftsmanship and new-world technological innovation. All Larrivée guitars are created with solid wood construction, one-piece carved necks, Premium grade tops, impeccable craftsmanship, and effortless playability.
