Patrick Wolfkill - Guitar & Bass
I began playing guitar when I was 15 years old. I started out playing
with my Youth Pastor/Worship Leader, Jeff Ling and Robert
Rodriguez at the Church of the Apostles in Fairfax, VA. As my ability increased,
I joined the worship team with Jeff Ling and Patrick Callahan
for the main church services, which was a bit intimidating since the church had
over 1,000 members! I also had the opportunity to play on a worship CD (cassette
tape) while at Church of the Apostles. Additionally, I was able to use my
talents on mission trips to the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles California, and on
trips to Jamaica and Russia.
During my time at Messiah College, I played in a variety of bands. I was a
back up musician for gospel singer extraordinaire Cynthia Rejoice Lindsey. I
also had stints with the Hostile Amish and other bands before joining a more
regular group, The Coffee House Band with Blaine Kimball and Sal Oliveri (Wayne Watson,
Mylon LeFevre, 4Him and a host of other groups). After graduation from Messiah,
I remained involved with the Coffee House at the college through my connections
with Larry Lakey and Brodie Hutchins.
My relationship with Brodie allowed me to play with the band Wanted, with Rob
and Mike Dunlap. After the group Wanted ran its course, Brodie and I wanted to
record some of the original songs we had written so I contacted my high school
youth group friend Bill Campbell, a very talented musician, songwriter, producer
and engineer, about recording in his studio. After securing the studio, I called
Robert Rodriguez (drums) and Larry Lakey (bass) to round out the band for
recording. From those sessions, M.A.S. (Mutual Admiration Society) was born.
That band stayed together with various line ups for nearly 10 years. One of the
most memorable performances with M.A.S. was on September 14, 2001 at the Sylvan
Theatre on the Mall in Washington D.C. for the Gospel Extravaganza sponsored by
the Triumphant
Church. What an awesome experience to play in the Nation's Capitol during
that time in our history! I also enjoyed playing some dates with Bill Campbell's
band, The Throes. I have
also had many opportunities to play for and lead worship with a variety of
people and churches over the past 20 years. Recently I played with the other
member's of 3 Days Journey with Frances Drost.
Because of my relationship with Sal Oliveri, I also have a song writing
credit on Mylon LeFevre's CD, "Faith, Hope and Love" for being a
co-writer for the song, Don't Say It's Over. Sal and I wrote the music
during one of my many visits to Sal's house in N.J. while in college. I hope to
write and record with a few of my other favorite bands, Sister Betty, 81 South,
Seven 1 Seven, Flash and Supermatics in the near future.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with many
of my guitar influences, Phil
Keaggy, Dann Huff, Eric
Johnson, Larry
Carlton, Patrick Callahan, Jeff Ling, Fr. Rick Lord and Chris
Davis.
I and my lovely wife, Daphne, have been married since 1999. We reside in Camp
Hill, PA with our children Harrison (3) and Abby (11).
