Fender invented the Electric Bass in 1951 in response to requests from musicians for a louder, easier-to-handle bass - this new instrument was named the Precision Bass^®. Unlike its predecessor (the acoustic stand-up bass) the P-Bass had frets, which allowed bassists to play with precision. Needless to say, a "new playing sensation" was born and the sound of popular music changed forever.

The Big Block P Bass^® brings elegance and power to any musical situation, offering high performance and the classy stripped-down look of black and chrome. Lift the hood and find a sweet new double Jazz Bass^® humbucking pickup .. This pickup and electronics have been replaced on this particular instrument with a passive Duncan Bass Lines. Knurled chrome knobs on a chrome '51 P Bass control plate and the new FENDER^® convertible bridge complete this ultra cool package.
