Marshall Major 1972 SOLD
Marw
From, the previous owner who is an amp tech: "that Major has fresh JJ KT88 power tubes and new filter capacitors. Both very expensive to have done…it hasn’t been played much at all since I’ve had it, other than when I benched it last month. Too loud. Replaced the knobs (most were missing the gold caps) and two of the three switches (I think the polarity switch is stock). The other two original switches were the square plastic Bulgin switches…both had stress cracks on their plastic housings, so I swapped them out. Typical for these switches (only used in the Major). The model number is 1972…it is the ‘bass’ model with the larger phase inverter capacitors (.47 uf). Maybe that’s why it sounded so good. Whatever…it’s big, heavy, and really loud…but also fairly rare, and a fairly clean example. Usually they have fan holes cut thru the cabs, and master volumes drilled in the fronts. I’ve had it for about 15 years….time to move it along."
